......... for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting
......... truly I say to you .. they have their reward in full06:17 .. but you .. when you fast .. anoint your head and wash your face06:18 .. so that your fasting will not be noticed by men .. but by your father who is in secret ..
......... and your father who sees what is done in secret will reward you Fasting Without Hypocrisy, Part 1 .. Matthew 6:16–18 Oct 28, 1979 Fasting Without Hypocrisy, Part 2 .. Matthew 6:16–18 Nov 4, 1979 06:19 .. do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth .. where moth and rust destroy .. and where thieves break in and steal Treasures in Heaven, Part 1 .. Matthew 6:19a Mar 16, 1980 06:20 .. but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven .. where neither moth nor rust destroys .. and where thieves do not break in or steal06:21 .. for where your treasure is .. there your heart will be also06:22 .. the eye is the lamp of the body .. so then if your eye is clear .. your whole body will be full of light06:23 .. but if your eye is bad .. your whole body will be full of darkness . . . If then the light that is in you is darkness .. how great is the darkness06:24 .. no one can serve two masters .. for either he will hate the one and love the other ..
......... or he will be devoted to one and despise the other .. you cannot serve God and wealth Treasures in Heaven, Part 2 .. Matthew 6:19–24 Mar 23, 1980 .................. the cure for anxiety 06:25 .. for this reason I say to you .. do not be worried about your life .. as to what you will eat or what you will drink ..
......... nor for your body .. as to what you will put on . . . Is not life more than food .. and the body more than clothing06:26 .. look at the birds of the air .. that they do not sow .. nor reap nor gather into barns ..
......... and yet your heavenly father feeds them .. are you not worth much more than they06:27 .. and who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life06:28 .. and why are you worried about clothing .. observe how the lilies of the field grow .. they do not toil nor do they spin06:29 .. yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these06:30 .. but if God so clothes the grass of the field .. which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace . . .
......... will he not much more clothe you .. you of little faith06:31 .. do not worry then .. saying . . . what will we eat .. or what will we drink .. or what will we wear for clothing06:32 .. for the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things .. for your heavenly father knows that you need all these things06:33 .. but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness .. and all these things will be added to you06:34 .. so do not worry about tomorrow .. for tomorrow will care for itself . . . each day has enough trouble of its own Avoiding the Love of Money .. Matthew 6:19–34 Mar 15, 1987 Overcoming Financial Worry, Part 1 .. Matthew 6:25–34 Apr 20, 1980 Overcoming Financial Worry, Part 2 .. Matthew 6:25–34 Apr 27, 1980 Jesus, Worry, and You .. Matthew 6:25–34 Oct 11, 1998 The Promise of Peace in a Worried World .. Matthew 6:25–34 Mar 15, 2020 True relationship to God will be manifested by a motive of heart devotion to God back of all charity to men .. by absolute sincerity and humility in the prayer life .. by laying up heavenly treasures and by absolute confidence in the heavenly father to supply all real needs and overcome all troubling circumstances . . . . Mt 6:8-13 rather than the “Lord’s prayer” .. this should be designated as “the disciples prayer” .. for Jesus could not pray this prayer as the expression of his own needs .. It should be remembered also that it is not based upon the atoning work of the cross .. which at the time it was given .. was yet future .. Christ’s finished work which makes possible deliverance from sin .. should be thought into this prayer when used by the Christian .. It is a model of what true prayer is
1 puts the father’s interest before personal interests
2 puts earthly needs in right proportion to spiritual needs
3 bases prayer upon relationship
4 Trusts God for present needs .. not worrying about the morrow Matthew . Mark . Luke . John ...... Matthew 6Acts . Romans . I Corinthians . II Corinthians . Galatians . Ephesians . Philippians .
